Finally, the Switzerland opened the doors of the Geneva Motor Show. Also, the Opel (badged as a Vauxhall in UK) Ampera has been revealed there. Those who check our site daily, knew how will the Chevy Volt-based Ampera looks like from the spy shots. Nevertheless, GM promises that the Opel Ampera will be in showrooms late 2011, as for Vauxhall's own Ampera will be release the same time but in right-hand drive for the UK market.Compared with its sibling Chevrolet Volt, the Opel Ampera is looks similar with some European design touches. The Ampera features new front-fascia that shares its styling cues from the new Opel Inignia sedan and Flextreme Concept. At the back, the Ampera gets darker treatment for taillights and it also gets new rims. Inside, Opel went for some funky red textures on the doors, and glossy black for the center console, unlike Volt's white center console.This is where the similarities end. Mechanic wise, the Ampera is basically a European-version of the Volt. So the Opel Ampera uses the same 5-door hatchback body, and the same Voltec plug-in hybrid system as the Volt. GM says that Voltec system has a 40 mile (65 km) range from a single charge. Small gasoline engine on the car which powers the generator will increase the range to about 500 miles (800 km). Recharging from a European 230-volt outlet is expected to take 2-3 hours

Infiniti Essence is a concept which designed to celebrates 20 year existence of the brand. Infiniti Essence concept has been premiered in Geneva Motor Show and features rear-wheel drive coupe, two-seater, and a front engine.

While powered by a hybrid system, Infiniti Essence concept may develops 600PS (592bhp). Infiniti Essence also features 3.7-litre V6 gasoline engine that develops 440PS (434bhp) as it has been fitted with twin turbochargers.

Infiniti Essence also showcases a new type of electric motor, called a 3D Motor, that takes the power output up by 160PS (158bhp). The electric motor is particularly slim, disc-shaped and offers twice the torque of a conventional unit.

The essence of the Infiniti brand distilled into one car and then taken to the extremes to satisfy the world’s most demanding car enthusiasts … this is the Infiniti Essence.

Presented as a concept at the 79th International Motor Show of Geneva, Infiniti Essence is a celebration of Infiniti and its 20 years history as a creator of performance cars. But equally it is an inspiring exploration into the brand’s future.

The dramatic design, technology and performance statement is a 600PS, petrol/electric hybrid coupe with rear-wheel drive. What Infiniti Essence is not is merely an indulgent birthday present from Infiniti to itself.

This concept embodies Infiniti’s core values as an inspiration for the future as much as a celebration of the past. Infiniti Essence showcases many of the technologies, including hybrid, and design cues that will distinguish Infiniti production cars of the coming years.
